What is a Death Doula?

A Death Doula, also known as End-of-Life Doula, Soul Doula, Doula Walker, Serious Illness Companion, Death Midwife and other names - provides professional, non-medical, holistic support for individuals facing a life-threatening illness and support those who love them.  A death doula is a death and dying professional.

We support individuals and families to prepare before the dying process and walk alongside individuals and families to offer physical, emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual support throughout every stage of illness, from diagnosis to prognosis and into the sacred threshold of end of life and after death care.

Our role is deeply personal and heart-centered. We educate and empower individuals and their care partners to move through each chapter of planning and transitioning. 

A Death Doula is one who shines light on life by honoring the wisdom death offers.  We guide people back to what truly matters: love, meaning, respect, honor, dignity, purpose and inner peace.

At its core, death work is activism - a powerful act of reclaiming how we speak about death, how we treat our dying, and how we choose to live and ensure the right to die on your own terms.
